Nori Crackers

Ingredients

  • 1 egg
  • 3 spring roll wrappers
  • 3 sheets nori
  • 6 tablespoons sesame seeds
  • 4 cups canola oil
  • Salt to taste

Instructions

  • Combine egg and 1 tablespoon water in a small bowl. Use a pastry brush to spread the egg wash over the spring roll wrappers.
  • Place a sheet of nori on top of each wrapper and brush the nori with the egg wash. Sprinkle with sesame seeds and rest for 10 minutes.
  • Pour oil into a Dutch oven. Warm the oil to 300° over medium heat.
  • Cut each nori-topped wrapper into 9 squares.
  • Working in batches, place several crackers in the hot oil and fry until browned and crispy, about 5 minutes.
  • Transfer crackers to a paper towel–lined plate, then season with salt.
