Food and cannabis have always been a pairing that makes my hungry heart and soul sing. The combination provides a beautiful way to celebrate, especially with a treat you’ve crafted in the comfort of your home.
Producing infused dishes at home is simple enough, yet when talking to clients through Pot + Pan, I’ve found people view the idea as intimidating and complex. So, let’s get back to basics. Before we get in the kitchen together and “bake to get baked,” I want to toss the taboo and start with an honest and open conversation about infusing THC into food.
Here’s the big question I get all the time: “There are all kinds of recipes on the internet—where do I begin?”
When we infuse food with THC in the Pot + Pan kitchen, we use a honey-looking concentration of THC that comes from a professional grower or extractor. This jar comes with test results from a lab to make sure it doesn’t contain any kinds of icky things like pesticides or heavy metals. These tests also tell us what the THC potency, measured in milligrams (mg), is within that jar. This ensures I can accurately infuse the wonderful creations you pick up at local stores with just a dash of THC. You’ll see this on the label as 2.5 mg, 5 mg, or 10 mg. I’m a proud microdoser, and I’ve found that 2.5 mg is the perfect place for my THC journey. It’s where I started, and it’s actually the dose I still enjoy today. My advice to newbies is to start small and note how the different doses make you feel.
In my experience, most online recipes are DIY when it comes to their THC concentration, meaning you won’t really know the concentration of THC going into the recipe. These recipes are designed for people with a high tolerance for cannabis (much more than even 10 mg) who can tolerate stark variations in the dose they create. If you’re new to cannabis, coming back around, or looking to share THC with loved ones for the first time, following these high-dose recipes could result in never wanting to try THC again. Now who wants that to happen? Not me!

Here’s my promise to you: Continue with me on the ongoing journey to toss the taboo, and we’ll get in the kitchen with what is sure to be your new favorite pantry ingredient. Together, we’ll build the foundation to properly and confidently create cannabis dishes at home in a way that feels comfortable, approachable, and easy. My goal is to take away your urge to nibble nervously and instead encourage you to bite boldly and savor joyfully!
In the meantime, I’m going to share with you one of my ultimate comfort foods. It isn’t made with THC, but it can satisfy any cravings—whether you’ve indulged in an edible or just want something warm, sweet, salty, and ooey-gooey delicious. It reminds me of the changing of the seasons and time well spent with family. It’s a classic, and it’s inspired by my #1 super-fan: my mom, Lulu. I hope that you enjoy it as much as I do, and that it gets you thinking about what’s to come on our cannabis-infused journey.
