Nestled in the woods along the rocky shores of Boothbay Harbor, Linekin Bay Resort beckons travelers wanting to get away from the hustle and bustle of everyday life. Boasting a rich history dating back to its establishment as a summer camp over 100 years ago, this family-friendly resort takes you back to an era when time moved slower and kids spent all day outside playing, learning, and exploring.

A Glimpse Back

Steeped in history, the resort holds a special place in the hearts of both locals and visitors. It was originally established as a summer camp for girls in 1919 by the Branch family. The camp provided a haven for girls, and eventually boys, in the years between World War I and World War II. An old flyer called it a “Healthy, Happy, Salt Water Camp for Girls on the Coast of Maine.” Campers enjoyed many of the same outdoor activities available today, including swimming, fishing, rowing, canoeing, arts and crafts, tennis, sailing, and fencing.

During World War II, the camp’s attendance dropped, but in 1946 it reopened as a family-friendly, all-inclusive inn for locals and travelers. The camp slowly grew into a resort with the addition of modern accommodations, a saltwater pool, and renowned sailing programs, all while preserving its rich heritage and sense of tradition.

In 2015, the Branch family sold the resort to local business owners, who lovingly preserved the camp’s rustic charm while enhancing its modern comforts and adding an elevated dining experience.

Dock and Dine

The Deck Bar & Grill is where guests can meet to unwind as they take in the views of the waterfront. Open to the public, this casual spot is a favorite “dock and dine” destination for boaters along Maine’s shores. The outside seating easily flows inside with a wraparound deck and panoramic views of Linekin Bay. Picnic tables hug the shoreline, and cornhole keeps guests entertained while they wait for their meal.

The venue’s talented chefs take pride in their menu offerings, which showcase the best of Maine’s local ingredients and the abundance of coastal cuisine. Guests start their day with a delicious breakfast in the Main Lodge, which is included in their stay. For lunch and dinner, options range from casual pub fare (such as salads or an LBR cheeseburger and pier fries) to fresh local seafood (including local oysters and fish tacos). Dinner entrees include Maine lobster risotto, beef short rib, porcini-dusted halibut, and grilled organic tofu with quinoa and veggies. There is also an extensive menu for kids.

In July and August, enjoy Tuesday Brews & BBQ and Thursday Lobster Bakes at the Deck Bar & Grill starting at 5:30 pm. You don’t have to be staying at the resort to enjoy this great dining experience.
