“Capturing the freshness and flavors of summer is my jam,” says Katrin Miller, lead bartender at Sonder & Dram in Lewiston. This drink starts with a trip to the farmers market for a bunch of greens and herbs. If you don’t have a juicer, substitute your favorite commercial green juice.
Makes
1 drinkIngredients
- 1 ½ ounces Maine vodka
- 2 ounces green juice
- ¼ ounce sherry
- ¼ ounce Fiore lemon white balsamic vinegar
- ¼ ounce herb syrup
- Glass: Highball
- Garnish: Lemon twist and herbs
Instructions
- Combine all ingredients in a shaker with ice. Strain into a glass with fresh ice. Garnish with lemon twist and fresh herbs.
Green Juice
- If you have a favorite bottled green juice, use that. If you don’t have a favorite but own a juicer, process 3 large cucumbers, 2 pounds of green grapes, and a pound each of spinach and arugula to make one.
Herb Syrup
- Combine 1 cup of water with 1 cup of sugar in a medium saucepan. Place over medium heat and stir until the sugar dissolves. Remove from the heat, then add 1 cup each fresh basil, fresh thyme, and fresh cilantro. Steep for an hour. Strain syrup into a clean glass jar. Compost the spent herbs.
